Pharmacy Ed. Res. Nat'l Intravenous Training for Pharmacy Technicians (40hr ACPE)

Description: “Pharmacy Education Resources National Intravenous Training Manual for Pharmacy Technicians” is a 40 hour ACPE accredited program available to technicians. The goal of this manual is to provide the technician with a general basis of knowledge concerning sterile pharmaceutical products. It provides basic knowledge to develop an understanding of concepts, techniques, and procedures related to the preparation of sterile and hazardous pharmaceutical products.

A set of “Process Validation Checklists” have been included. This checklist plus an additional 20 hours of hands-on Supervised practice are required when evaluating the reader’s ability to actually demonstrate sterile technique. Most state boards of pharmacy require process validation at least annually.

To receive ACPE credit, pharmacy technicians must work through the manual and self-assessment questions and pass a post test with a score of 75% or better. An IV skills process validation form must be successfully completed and signed by a registered pharmacist and submitted with post test, program evaluation and 20 hour Supervised practice form signed by a registered Pharmacist in order to obtain credit.
